New Festive Picture

Well after a week away from the computer, I’m back and I have just added my Yule Artwork for 2008 to my website gallery and shop
here it is:-

‘Festive Wood’

 

I’m really pleased with it as it has a real warm and cozy feel to it. I know that for many who describe themselves as spiritual ‘Christmas’ is very problematic as it is now for many just a commercial binge or a alien Christian celebration. For me it is a time of hope, joy and tolerance. It should be remembered that this time of the year December/January has been marked as special by many faiths in many locations around the world and its roots are set far back in the ancient world. I believe that we can not class ourselves as ‘spiritual’ (whatever that really means) unless we can embrace and tolerate other faiths and beliefs. When we look through human history we can see we have failed to do this most basic of acts (tolerance) time and time again and always at the sacrifice of our humanity.

So if the mention of Christmas leaves you cold, take it as an opportunity to celebrate life and it many wonders, start your own tradition if you don’t have one, but don’t begrudge others their joy for doing so will just make your heart a little colder and for us in the Northern Hemisphere this time of year is cold enough.
