IF god was a DJ?
I discovered this video on Youtube yesterday ‘IF god was a DJ? Neale Donald Walsh’ (View it at the bottom of this blog) and while I enjoyed the audio, the visuals for me touched on the great predicament of life. The visual story line shows that it is very hard to do anything that will be a positive for everyone in life; even your best and most honourable actions ultimately will end up affecting someone beyond your field of view in a negative way.
The minute we are born we all start having an impact on others not to mention the planet; you may have a low carbon foot print but what about your karmic foot print? While you may love your life, spread peace to all you meet, help both people and animals and the Earth you can not really see how your actions ripple out into the universe. Who knows, one day despite the best will in the world you may utter just one unknowing word to the wrong person that will unleash a chain of negative events onto the world, which could even result in many deaths. People may scoff at such an idea; this is usually because they perceive themselves as unimportant. In my experience there are no ‘bit parts’ in the drama of life, you, no matter who you think you are have a staring role in this production. So it follows that no action you make no matter how mundane or muted is without consequence.
What chain of events will you set in motion this very day? When you have to fire a person at work, decline someone credit, or a place in a night club or hotel. When you take out your aggression on a sales clerk because of faulty goods, honk at the driver in front for not moving off at your required speed. Even when you ‘just’ smile at someone or don’t something comes from it, just by your very being you are creation in action. Even when you’re dead the very act of die-ing or the disposal of your body sets off hundreds of connected events you just can’t see or know.
How do we get through life then? I believe by knowing that the universe requires us to play our role no matter what it is, the reasons we do what we do and think the way we do is all part of the great cosmic dance.
I don’t know very much about why life is the way it is, but I know that like man, Nature both destroys and creates but unlike man, nature views it all without judgement.
It’s a hard pill to swallow that very few of histories ‘Evil leaders’ ever saw themselves in that light, they saw themselves as just doing what they thought was best for themselves their family and their people. We want people we don’t agree with or like to be monsters because then we can persecute them without having to look into why they are like they are, how we would act if we saw the world through their eyes. Plus if the people are monsters they are not us, so we can do what we like to them without it affecting our Karma or humanity (hmm it’s just like what we do to animals, but that’s another blog)
I often play the ‘Devil advocate’ by that I mean (Dictionary time) One who argues against a cause or position, not as a committed opponent but simply to determine the validity of the cause or position. I do this because I know I’m not right on any subject, but neither in truth is anyone else. For the person with a true open mind and heart and a non dualistic view of the universe all things in life can both be justified and condemned depending on your stand point and perception. As Lewis Carroll said “everything’s got a moral, if only you can find it.’
On Neale Donald Walsh
For me ‘Neale Donald Walsh’s conversations with god (book one) is a wonderful book (and an even better audio book) that I became aware of just at the very moment I needed it, the message was important to me for it confirmed my view of the power that drive the universe. As you Know I don’t follow any one religion or belief but I feel that like all spiritual works it holds a deal of ancient wisdom within it. Now I know many people see the book as deeply offensive and dislike (I use mild word) Neale for the ‘evil’ they perceive he has done, that just goes proves my point of the blog, what heals one person kills another.
Did Neale talk to god? When anyone sits and truly considers a situation they bring a point of view with them, ultimately after a time of inner debate that person confirms or over turns their view point. Often they will say I just had a flash of inspiration and saw how it must be, was that chemicals in the brain? or was that something greater than we know? Neale will not be the first person to view inspiration as the voice of god and he won’t be the last. I can not say if Neale did or didn’t talked to god but this debate clouds a book that at it’s core can heal and bring comfort not to mention peace to those it was intended for and for those it wasn’t it can bring nothing but angst .
Any way enough of my ramblings watch the video and see the chain of events unfold. It should give you something to think on ……
Have a great weekend
